About Me
My name is Trevor Belshaw and I live in the beautiful county of Nottinghamshire. I was born in 1953 in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, but moved to Nottingham after I left School in 1970.
I am married to Doreen and have two excellent children in Daniel and Tamsyn.
My working life has seen me change careers with alarming regularity. I never could stick to anything for very long. I have worked in a coal mine and made cricket bat handles at a world famous factory. I also worked as an electrician, refitting shops and superstores all around the country. More recently I have been running my own PC repair business.
The urge to write has always been with me. I started and failed to complete writing courses back in the 90′s. My shop fitting work meant long hours, sometimes up to 18 a day. It didn’t leave much time for creative thought. These days I have more time on my hands and I have finally taken up the challenge.
I have written four children’s books and I’m currently writing an adult novel about the members of a writers club.
My short story, Dinner for Two, was published in the charity anthology 100 Stories for Haiti in 2010.
I have had poems published in two anthologies and was a long listed in the Plough prize of 2009 for my children’s poem Creaking Gran.
I have had articles. poems and short stories published in magazines as diverse as The Best of British, New Edition, and Ireland’s Own. I am also a regular contributor to the online magazine, The Pages.
My passions include my dogs and Nottingham Forest Football Club.
I do tend to write a lot about my dogs, Molly and Maisie, the best Springer Spaniels in the world. I don’t apologise for this, I love them madly and they are a constant source of inspiration.
